Ginger Cookies
Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 4 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves (ground)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 3/4 cup sugar
Directions
- Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt and pset aside.
- Beat shortening until soft. Add 2 cups sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add eggs and molasses. Beat well. Add flour mixture and beat until combined. Stir remaining in w/spoon. Shape dough into 2" balls and roll in the sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 1/2" apart. Bake 350° 12-14 minutes or until light brown and puffed.
