  1. Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt and pset aside.
  2. Beat shortening until soft. Add 2 cups sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add eggs and molasses. Beat well. Add flour mixture and beat until combined. Stir remaining in w/spoon. Shape dough into 2" balls and roll in the sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 1/2" apart. Bake 350° 12-14 minutes or until light brown and puffed.
